Happy Halloween - Parties, Parades & Festivals in NYC

Our children's favorite time of the year, and this years Halloween celebrations will be bigger and better then ever after the cancelled events due to Covid-19 last year. So, time to drag out your Halloween costumes or rush to Target or Party City and grab a new costume and check out these spooky events happening in the city.

Please note, Even though Halloween is on Sunday this year, there are a few events happening on Saturday 30th or earlier in the week. Also most events require proof of Covid-19 vaccination.


Sunday October 31 - The Greenwich Village Parade

The infamous Parade is back on this year with a theme "lets Play" Children of NY. The Halloween Parade runs up Sixth Ave from Spring St to 16th St in Manhattan. For more information visit halloween-nyc.com.


Saturday October 30 - Halloween & Harvest Festival, Long Island City

Head to LIC for the Socrates sculpture garden's Halloween Harvest Festival, and best of all you can bring your dog to the party! Join in on the second largest doggie costume contest in NYC, also enjoy pumpkin carving, palm leaf making and a catapulting competition. Wednesday October 27 - Scavenger Hunt, Central Park

A popular Free event every year at the Harlem Meer in Central Park. Come dressed in your Halloween outfit and enjoy a fun scavenger hunt from 4-6pm. Harlem Meer Scavenger hunt.


Sunday October 31 - BamBoo - Coble Hill, Brooklyn

The free annual event is back on this year, bring your kids in costume from 2pm to collect candy, enjoy music and all the street fair has to offer. more info here Bamboo.


Saturday & Sunday Through till 31 October - Boo at the Zoo

This is a very popular event at Bronx Zoo, There is so much more to do than just see the animals, pumpkin carving, costume contest, crafts, spider maze, the list goes on. You need to purchase tickets in advance here - Boo at the Zoo




Saturday October 30 - Park Slope Halloween Parade

It all starts with a music parade at 1130am between President and Carroll St and then the costume parade kicks off at 12pm down 5th Ave. Lots of activities all afternoon. more info here Park Slope Parade


And finally there will always be the local area trick or treat activities. Most shops will have candy for kids to take and most neighborhoods have dedicated street closures where the brownstones are decorated and candy is handed out from the stoops. On Sunday 312 Oct on the Upper West Side; W69th St between Central Park West & Broadway is closed off and W78th St between Amsterdam and Columbus also blocked for a street party.
